Letter from Mr. Jackson
We completed our last group class tonight and now it’s up to you to follow through. Thanks for your kind attention and lively discussion over the last three meetings. You guys have a great sense of humor and I’ve enjoyed working with you.
We have the following items yet to complete. There will be a final meeting after everyone has completed requirements 3 – 7 as noted below. As before, please make brief outline notes on your worksheet so we can discuss if needed.
Continuing item:
Requirement 3. Prepare a list of your regular home duties or chores (at least five) and do them for 90 days. Keep a record of how often you do each of them.
New action items:
Requirement 4. With the approval of your parents or guardians and your merit badge counselor, decide on and carry out a project that you would do around the home that would benefit your family. Submit a report to your merit badge counselor outlining how the project benefited your family.
Requirement 5. Plan and carry out a project that involves the participation of your family. After completing the project, discuss the following with your merit badge counselor:
a. The objective or goal of the project,
b. How individual members of your family participated, and
c. The results of the project.
Write your notes for a, b and c on your worksheet, and then reply and let me know what you plan to do for a project.
Ian and Justin have their projects for 4 and 5 approved. Please reply and let me know what you plan to do for your project. As we discussed, this should not be something you normally do as a chore.
Requirement 6. Do the following:
a. Discuss with your merit badge counselor how to plan and carry out a family meeting. (completed)

Discussion of each of these subjects will very likely carry over to more than one family meeting. Please have your parent initial and date your worksheet that you planned and carried out the meeting.
Requirement 7. Discuss the following with your counselor:

b. Your understanding of the responsibilities of a parent
This is the last discussion item and will be done individually between 7 and 7:30 before the troop meeting. I will also check items 3-6 as well. If you have any questions, please call or email. Best to you all,
